Comparison: Color Block Heels

It may only be February, but I’m ready for warm weather. Since I have no power over the forecast, I will instead take this time to plan all the pretty things I want to wear once it heats back up.

Nothing says palm trees and Mai Tais quite like these color block sandals from BCBG:

Capture Capture2

Runway Hex Color-Blocked Sandal from BCBG Maxazria

These sandals are bold and have a futuristic edge about them, which I love. Plus, look at that heel! I love a metallic heel and don’t even get me started on that cutout! Sadly, they’re $325, which is just a bit out of my price range.
Okay, it’s a lot out of my price range.

Since when has that stopped me?

Below, I have compiled a few options for us girls on a budget:

Samaria Ivory Sandals from Jessica Simpson

$88 (was $98)

These are definitely more retro/disco and not so futuristic, but they have the light base color with bright accent colors, which is what you want in a great warm weather shoe. If a metallic heel is not your thing, then this faux-wood heel is a perfect match. Not only that, but it has a T-strap, which I think can be so sexy AND comfortable!

3-Strap Sueded Heel Bootie from Charlotte Russe

$20 (was $38.50)
These are selling fast!

This is a two-tone sueded bootie with a peep toe, side zipper, and a few metallic stud accents. When you want a little more coverage but still want some color in your life, these babies are for you.

V357997

Mary Jane Platform Pump from Victoria’s Secret

$98 (Additional discounts given for online orders)

These sexy Mary Jane’s have a super high heel and beautiful vibrant colors, as well as an ankle strap and peep toe. The price is a bit on the high side, but Victoria’s Secret always has deals on online orders to bring that number down.

V360738

Peep-toe Sling-back Sandal from Victoria’s Secret

$68 (Additional discounts given for online orders)

These sling-backs combine vintage and modern into on great shoe. If the neon yellow scares you a bit, not to worry! They have plenty of other color combinations to choose from.

Eclectic Company Heel from ModCloth

$67.99

This is definitely a quirky shoe, but I love it all the same. ModCloth has some of the greatest and most unusual shoes that almost always have a vintage flair. This has a great criss-cross strap, and the heel detail is fabulous.

Screen Shot 2013-02-13 at 12.23.22 AM

Aquarium Fantasy Wedge from ModCloth

$47.99

This last pair is my absolute FAVORITE. It’s to die for. First off, they couldn’t have chosen a better name for this beautifully designed wedge. These shoes are living in a dream world, and I’m on the next flight. These would look so great with super skinny jeans or a cute mini skirt. I know I say that I need to buy shoes a lot, but I really REALLY need this pair. It completely steals the show in this line-up.

Payless on the Runway

This is always my favorite part. Shoes on the runway! Time to see the 2011 collections of the designers for Payless…

Starting with Christian Siriano

On to Isabel Toledo…

And finally, Lela Rose

Highlights from Spring 2010 Couture

The 2010 Couture Show has come and gone, and once again there are quite a few looks that have caused some excitement (and not just for me!) Here are some really fantastic (and some not so great) trends to look out for in the next few months from the 2010 Couture Show!!

First up…

ARMANI PRIVE

These are pretty nice. Nothing that really wows me, but I do like them all.

Next on the list:

CHANEL

When I look at the first photo, I immediately think 1950’s Barbie meets Lady Gaga. It’s an interesting combination. As for the shoes, I really love the heel detail but I can’t help but think that overall the shoes look kind of cheap. I am really hoping that one of these days the super ornate heel trend will catch on in the affordable shoe market!

Onto one of my favorites:

CHRISTIAN DIOR

I absolutely love the equestrian influences here! And I always love a good ballgown. This was the showstopper in my book.

GIVENCHY

I am loving the t-strap bootie and desperately want a pair for myself!

JOHN PAUL GAULTIER

I’m surprised to say that I actually really enjoy the Avatar inspired collection here.

Those shoes with that purse on the top are definitely on my outfit wish list 🙂

And lastly…

VALENTINO

The first shoe is a little too mummy-ish to me, but the other two are pretty awesome. The cut-out and pieced together look is a lot of fun.

A History of Thigh High Boots

I found this great little slideshow on a history of thigh high boots on The Cut: New York Magazine’s Fashion Blog, and I just had to share it. It’s really great!

Anne Hathaway in her full length Chanel boots in The Devil Wears Prada, 2006

–Can I just interject by saying how much I love this movie!?!! I have watched The Devil Wears Prada a countless amount of times and it really never gets old. I guess I can relate to it a bit too, the whole transformation into the world of fashion, wanting to work for a magazine bit…sigh…and this movie really made me love Anne Hathaway too. Shes really a fantastic actress…anyway, back to the list!

More Interesting Shoes from Fashion Week

I always like to see something different, even if it is weird, because regardless of whether I like it or not it is always a great discussion piece! So here are some more intriguing shoes that are walking the runway:

20090305_ninariccishoes_560x375

These crazy numbers are from Nina Ricci’s new line, and say what you will, but I would probably give them a shot. If I could afford them. Buuuut anyway…

These babies make you eleven inches taller. And that little heel on the last two shoes–yeah it doesn’t even touch the floor! But fortunately for those of you who can afford these, the toe platform is heavily weighted to keep you from flying backward. But I would recommend practicing first….you never know….

Moving on…

afvandevorstfall091-200x300

For those of you who feel a little horsey, I present to you A.F. Vandevorst’s pony-inspired footwear.

I gotta admit…not a big fan…

annevaleriehashfall091-200x300

Here’s a sample from Anne Valerie Hash’s new line which is all about woven materials.

And lastly we have Christian Dior’s new line for your viewing pleasure. Very nice detailing, very ornate!

Let me know what you think of the shoes on the runway so far!!

Highlights from Fashion Week

Here’s some of the more interesting shoes I’ve seen lately coming down the runway. Now keep in mind that when I say interesting I don’t always mean that as a compliment….Just saying…

bestshoes090225-dereklam

Derek Lam

I don’t ever get tired of strappy details.

bestshoes090225-marcjacobs

Marc Jacobs

I do, however, get tired of Marc Jacobs’ outlandish designs.

bestshoes090225-philliplim

Christian Louboutin

I really do believe that Louboutin can do no wrong. Now if only I could get my hands on a pair!

moschino-cheap-and-chic-fall-fashion-2009-001_runway moschino-fall-2009-shoes1

Moschino Cheap and Chic line

Now these are quite strange…I like the way it looks from the strappy side….but looking at it from the front I’m not so sure about.

Moschino Cheap and Chic line

I like the heel detail, but it just looks cheap.

Something to Look Forward to this Coming Fall…

I found this great collage on fashiontribes.com depicting the color combinations and how they will be used for this coming fall. These colors are chosen by Pantone based on what seems to have the most direction for the coming season. For fall 09 they seem to have been inspired by very rich earth tones and painterly schemes for some great combinations. This season will definitely not have the typical tones you see in autumn, as there are some great color pops, including some major pinks (fuchsia, coral, and Barbie inspired) and a great lime green!

FREAKIN FIERCE SHOES FROM CHRISTIAN SIRIANO!

Anyone who is a fan of Project Runway knows exactly what I’m talking about with this post! Even if you weren’t too happy about Christian Siriano becoming the winner of season 4 (personally I wanted Jillian to win) you have to admit that Christian was indeed ‘fierce.’ And now, his line of shoes for Payless are finally being debuted for all of us to see, and they are exactly what he always says: FIERCE!

Take a look

(thanks to NYMag for the pics!)

sirianoshoes

Yes…these babies are for PAYLESS. I couldn’t believe it either, and let me tell you I will be buying some of these when they hit the stores. Apparently Christian’s line will be in the $25-$45 range which is CRAZY AFFORDABLE for us not-so-rich people!!!

This line is inspired by the ancient Egyptians, and the blue print is actually supposed to resemble heiroglyphics. I have to admit I absolutely love those blue shoes too!!! So keep an eye on these, as they will be out this coming fall!!!!
