Comparison: Color Block Heels

It may only be February, but I’m ready for warm weather. Since I have no power over the forecast, I will instead take this time to plan all the pretty things I want to wear once it heats back up.

Nothing says palm trees and Mai Tais quite like these color block sandals from BCBG:

Capture Capture2

Runway Hex Color-Blocked Sandal from BCBG Maxazria

These sandals are bold and have a futuristic edge about them, which I love. Plus, look at that heel! I love a metallic heel and don’t even get me started on that cutout! Sadly, they’re $325, which is just a bit out of my price range.
Okay, it’s a lot out of my price range.

Since when has that stopped me?

Below, I have compiled a few options for us girls on a budget:

Screen Shot 2013-02-13 at 12.18.20 AM

Samaria Ivory Sandals from Jessica Simpson

$88 (was $98)

These are definitely more retro/disco and not so futuristic, but they have the light base color with bright accent colors, which is what you want in a great warm weather shoe. If a metallic heel is not your thing, then this faux-wood heel is a perfect match. Not only that, but it has a T-strap, which I think can be so sexy AND comfortable!

3-Strap Sueded Heel Bootie from Charlotte Russe

$20 (was $38.50)
These are selling fast!

This is a two-tone sueded bootie with a peep toe, side zipper, and a few metallic stud accents. When you want a little more coverage but still want some color in your life, these babies are for you.

V357997

Mary Jane Platform Pump from Victoria’s Secret

$98 (Additional discounts given for online orders)

These sexy Mary Jane’s have a super high heel and beautiful vibrant colors, as well as an ankle strap and peep toe. The price is a bit on the high side, but Victoria’s Secret always has deals on online orders to bring that number down.

V360738

Peep-toe Sling-back Sandal from Victoria’s Secret

$68 (Additional discounts given for online orders)

These sling-backs combine vintage and modern into on great shoe. If the neon yellow scares you a bit, not to worry! They have plenty of other color combinations to choose from.

Eclectic Company Heel from ModCloth

$67.99

This is definitely a quirky shoe, but I love it all the same. ModCloth has some of the greatest and most unusual shoes that almost always have a vintage flair. This has a great criss-cross strap, and the heel detail is fabulous.

Screen Shot 2013-02-13 at 12.23.22 AM

Aquarium Fantasy Wedge from ModCloth

$47.99

This last pair is my absolute FAVORITE. It’s to die for. First off, they couldn’t have chosen a better name for this beautifully designed wedge. These shoes are living in a dream world, and I’m on the next flight. These would look so great with super skinny jeans or a cute mini skirt. I know I say that I need to buy shoes a lot, but I really REALLY need this pair. It completely steals the show in this line-up.

Let me just add that, while I do love all of these styles below, some of them are definitely more than what I would spend. Either way, they are still great styles to see for inspiration. You will definitely be seeing similar styles from less expensive brands.

Keep an eye out for these at Payless

I love how often I am happily surprised now by Payless. These designer collaborations are really bringing their name back, and let’s face it, their new shoes are great. I remember when I was in middle school I had a pair of shoes from Payless, and I was so embarrassed about it that I wouldn’t admit it to anyone. Now I can’t wait to tell people that the stylish shoes I’m rockin’ are from Payless. The looks on their faces are always so great!

I think now more than ever we should all be proud of keeping a budget and choosing to spend less money. It’s responsible, it’s smart, and it’s really a rewarding feeling to know that you were able to put together a super trendy outfit on a super small budget. These notions were the only thing that got me through college, and even my first-job-straight-out-of-college-not-making-nearly-enough-money rough patch.

My theory is, no matter how much or how little money you make, you need to reward yourself. Learning how to do that without going overboard is what makes you a smarter shopper. Sure, you spend a little extra time doing more research and finding those great deals, but you are MUCH less likely to have buyer’s remorse from a $30 pair of shoes as opposed to a $300 pair. And you’ll make all your friends jealous when they find out how LITTLE you spent.

And here’s a few options for your personal reward to yourself…if you so choose 🙂

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT

And just think…for the same price as one night’s dinner (for 2) you could be purchasing a pair of shoes to wear all season, if not more! Something to think about…

Super Comfy Flats from Target

Yesterday, while shopping in Target, I of course had to make a pit stop in the shoe section. I came across these flats and was immediately drawn to the purple ones. I’m typically pretty skeptical about flats because they’re not normally as comfortable as one would hope, but these fit surprisingly well. I liked them so much that I bought a pair in purple (or berry) and black. I wore the purple ones ALL day today and I didn’t have any comfort issues. No pain, no blisters, just happy, comfy feet 🙂

Merona Madalena Suede Ballet Flats

Black-$19.99

These flats also come in yellow, teal, red, gray, brown, and taupe.

As a sidenote, I would like to once again recommend that if you don’t already have some, INVEST IN BAND AID BRAND BLISTER BLOCK!

I don’t always remember to put it on, but I ALWAYS make sure to wear it when I have new shoes on. You always have to break them in, and the Blister Block helps to take away the friction from the shoe to your foot.

I’ve only seen Blister Block at drug stores like Walgreens and CVS, so make sure to pick some up!

Do You ShoeDazzle?

So I just found out about ShoeDazzle at work yesterday. Basically, you subscribe through their website and describe your style to them. It costs $40 a month and they send you a pair of shoes each month TO KEEP according to your specifications. If you don’t see any shoes you like, you can skip a month and get two for the following month. I’m just now about to try it out, so I’ll be sure to update when I get my first pair!

Here’s the website:

http://www.shoedazzle.com/

These are some of the shoes you can get. All for $40!

Shes really a fantastic actress…anyway, back to the list!
