Surprising New Looks at Gap

I’m so surprised by what I’m seeing at Gap’s website. They now have Design Editions for shoes, and these are very different from the simple Gap style. Now, these are still out of my price range, but I think they’re worth seeing. Take a look…

New Shoes at Victoria’s Secret!

It’s that time again…time to get your feet all pretty so you can wear those cute strappy sandals in the back of your closet. But for those of you who, like me, feel you need new ones (or just really really want them), Victoria’s Secret is definitely ready for spring to get here.

Let me just add that, while I do love all of these styles below, some of them are definitely more than what I would spend. Either way, they are still great styles to see for inspiration. You will definitely be seeing similar styles from less expensive brands.

A History of Thigh High Boots

I found this great little slideshow on a history of thigh high boots on The Cut: New York Magazine’s Fashion Blog, and I just had to share it. It’s really great!

Anne Hathaway in her full length Chanel boots in The Devil Wears Prada, 2006

–Can I just interject by saying how much I love this movie!?!! I have watched The Devil Wears Prada a countless amount of times and it really never gets old. I guess I can relate to it a bit too, the whole transformation into the world of fashion, wanting to work for a magazine bit…sigh…and this movie really made me love Anne Hathaway too. Shes really a fantastic actress…anyway, back to the list!

Do you like the thigh high boot trend? Which are your favorite? I really love Anne Hathaway’s full length Chanel boots. What about you?

More Interesting Shoes from Fashion Week

I always like to see something different, even if it is weird, because regardless of whether I like it or not it is always a great discussion piece! So here are some more intriguing shoes that are walking the runway:

20090305_ninariccishoes_560x375

These crazy numbers are from Nina Ricci’s new line, and say what you will, but I would probably give them a shot. If I could afford them. Buuuut anyway…

These babies make you eleven inches taller. And that little heel on the last two shoes–yeah it doesn’t even touch the floor! But fortunately for those of you who can afford these, the toe platform is heavily weighted to keep you from flying backward. But I would recommend practicing first….you never know….

Moving on…

For those of you who feel a little horsey, I present to you A.F. Vandevorst’s pony-inspired footwear.

I gotta admit…not a big fan…

Here’s a sample from Anne Valerie Hash’s new line which is all about woven materials.

And lastly we have Christian Dior’s new line for your viewing pleasure. Very nice detailing, very ornate!

Let me know what you think of the shoes on the runway so far!!

Worst Idea for a Shoe Ever…

I wish this was a joke…I really do. But sadly this shoe is for real, and what’s worse–it’s selling for about 1000 euros.

So now I present to you for your viewing pleasure, or not, Rick Owen’s ‘Hidden Sandal’

This is basically what it looks like

This is what you’ll never see

So I’ve been trying to find some really good reasons why women should buy this shoe, and I’ve come up with a couple:

  • You’re going to be a Clydesdale this year for Halloween
  • Your floors are really dusty and you’re too lazy to sweep

Please feel free to share your reasons for wanting to buy this shoe!!

Some Things That Just Shouldn’t Be…

I just came across this while browsing through articles about shoes. It’s a couple years old, but I still felt it was worth mentioning, if for no other reason but to laugh…

adjustableheel

Yep, you read that correctly. It’s a shoe with an adjustable heel….It actually snaps up and stays under the arch of the shoe. I’m thinking that the idea never really caught on thought…

No offense to anyone who enjoys them, but you wouldn’t find me in those!

What do you think??
