Christian Siriano from the Runway

As most of you probably already know, I love Christian Siriano. Love love love him. I loved him when he was on Project Runway, and I love him even more as a shoe designer for Payless. For us girls on a budget, we don’t have the luxury of dropping hundreds of dollars on a single pair of shoes. But that doesn’t mean we can’t look like we did.

Here are some looks straight from the runway, all the way to Payless for us budget girls to snatch up.

Oh, and let’s not forget one other little piece of information:

Bogo

Yep. That’s pretty much the best thing ever. Moving on.

CynthiaSling

Women’s Cynthia Sling

$54.99

Seriously, I can’t take it anymore. This slingback is gorgeous.

PolinaBow

Women’s Polina Bow Flat

$42.99

If you’re into the adorable pattern on the Cynthia sling and you wanted flats instead (or if you want both, like me!) they’ve got a super cute flat with some attitude.

CamileBow

Women’s Camile Bow Flat

$26.99

For something a bit tamer, bit with a nice green pop

HadleyTStrap

Women’s Hadley T-Strap Pump

$34.99

I know, right? Only 35 bucks. Did I mention they’re all buy one get one half off? Yeah, I’m buying these now.

Keep an eye out for these at Payless

I love how often I am happily surprised now by Payless. These designer collaborations are really bringing their name back, and let’s face it, their new shoes are great. I remember when I was in middle school I had a pair of shoes from Payless, and I was so embarrassed about it that I wouldn’t admit it to anyone. Now I can’t wait to tell people that the stylish shoes I’m rockin’ are from Payless. The looks on their faces are always so great!

I think now more than ever we should all be proud of keeping a budget and choosing to spend less money. It’s responsible, it’s smart, and it’s really a rewarding feeling to know that you were able to put together a super trendy outfit on a super small budget. These notions were the only thing that got me through college, and even my first-job-straight-out-of-college-not-making-nearly-enough-money rough patch.

My theory is, no matter how much or how little money you make, you need to reward yourself. Learning how to do that without going overboard is what makes you a smarter shopper. Sure, you spend a little extra time doing more research and finding those great deals, but you are MUCH less likely to have buyer’s remorse from a $30 pair of shoes as opposed to a $300 pair. And you’ll make all your friends jealous when they find out how LITTLE you spent.

And here’s a few options for your personal reward to yourself…if you so choose πŸ™‚

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT

And just think…for the same price as one night’s dinner (for 2) you could be purchasing a pair of shoes to wear all season, if not more! Something to think about…

Highlights from Spring 2010 Couture

The 2010 Couture Show has come and gone, and once again there are quite a few looks that have caused some excitement (and not just for me!) Here are some really fantastic (and some not so great) trends to look out for in the next few months from the 2010 Couture Show!!

First up…

ARMANI PRIVE

These are pretty nice. Nothing that really wows me, but I do like them all.

Next on the list:

CHANEL

When I look at the first photo, I immediately think 1950’s Barbie meets Lady Gaga. It’s an interesting combination. As for the shoes, I really love the heel detail but I can’t help but think that overall the shoes look kind of cheap. I am really hoping that one of these days the super ornate heel trend will catch on in the affordable shoe market!

Onto one of my favorites:

CHRISTIAN DIOR

I absolutely love the equestrian influences here! And I always love a good ballgown. This was the showstopper in my book.

GIVENCHY

I am loving the t-strap bootie and desperately want a pair for myself!

JOHN PAUL GAULTIER

I’m surprised to say that I actually really enjoy the Avatar inspired collection here.

Those shoes with that purse on the top are definitely on my outfit wish list πŸ™‚

And lastly…

VALENTINO

The first shoe is a little too mummy-ish to me, but the other two are pretty awesome. The cut-out and pieced together look is a lot of fun.

What are your thoughts?

More Interesting Shoes from Fashion Week

I always like to see something different, even if it is weird, because regardless of whether I like it or not it is always a great discussion piece! So here are some more intriguing shoes that are walking the runway:

20090305_ninariccishoes_560x375

These crazy numbers are from Nina Ricci’s new line, and say what you will, but I would probably give them a shot. If I could afford them. Buuuut anyway…

These babies make you eleven inches taller. And that little heel on the last two shoes–yeah it doesn’t even touch the floor! But fortunately for those of you who can afford these, the toe platform is heavily weighted to keep you from flying backward. But I would recommend practicing first….you never know….

Moving on…

afvandevorstfall091-200x300

For those of you who feel a little horsey, I present to you A.F. Vandevorst’s pony-inspired footwear.

I gotta admit…not a big fan…

annevaleriehashfall091-200x300

Here’s a sample from Anne Valerie Hash’s new line which is all about woven materials.

christiandiorfall092-200x300christiandiorfall093-200x300christiandiorfall095-200x300christiandiorfall096-200x300

And lastly we have Christian Dior’s new line for your viewing pleasure. Very nice detailing, very ornate!

Let me know what you think of the shoes on the runway so far!!

Highlights from Fashion Week

Here’s some of the more interesting shoes I’ve seen lately coming down the runway. Now keep in mind that when I say interesting I don’t always mean that as a compliment….Just saying…

bestshoes090225-dereklam

Derek Lam

I don’t ever get tired of strappy details.

bestshoes090225-marcjacobs

Marc Jacobs

I do, however, get tired of Marc Jacobs’ outlandish designs.

bestshoes090225-philliplim

Christian Louboutin

I really do believe that Louboutin can do no wrong. Now if only I could get my hands on a pair!

moschino-cheap-and-chic-fall-fashion-2009-001_runway moschino-fall-2009-shoes1

Moschino Cheap and Chic line

Now these are quite strange…I like the way it looks from the strappy side….but looking at it from the front I’m not so sure about.

moschino-cheap-and-chic-fall-fashion-peeptoe_wedge_runway

Moschino Cheap and Chic line

I like the heel detail, but it just looks cheap.

Sale at Shiekh Shoes

I was just browsing through the sale shoes at shiekhshoes.com, and here are a few of my favorites:

60-6651

Michael Antonio, Meagy, ON SALE FOR $29.97 (originally $39.97)

Seeing these shoes reminded me that I really don’t have a great pair of green shoes. The detailing on these is just fantastic, and I might just be added them to my list…

61-63111

Michael Antonio, Joann, ON SALE FOR $25.00 (originally $39.97)

Once again I immediately fell in love with the color. This is a great teal blue, and I love that it is a Mary Jane.

61-8201

Shiekh, DS SW7214, ON SALE FOR $27.00 (originally $39.97)

We’re seeing that purple will also be carrying over to next season (which I am very happy about!), and this is really just a great wedge for all the seasons!

Something to Look Forward to this Coming Fall…

I found this great collage on fashiontribes.com depicting the color combinations and how they will be used for this coming fall. These colors are chosen by Pantone based on what seems to have the most direction for the coming season. For fall 09 they seem to have been inspired by very rich earth tones and painterly schemes for some great combinations. This season will definitely not have the typical tones you see in autumn, as there are some great color pops, including some major pinks (fuchsia, coral, and Barbie inspired) and a great lime green!

Some Surprising Finds at Old Navy!

I love being happily surprised, and recently Old Navy just keeps doing that to me. After my awesome experience with that beautiful red trench, I decided to check out Old Navy’s shoes online. Once again they made me smile…

Take a look.

Women's Color-Block Pumps

Women’s Color-Block Pumps, ON SALE FOR $9.99 (originally $34.50)

What I love most about these are the art deco-like accents on the vamp of this cute little round-toed shoe.

Women's Crinkle Patent Pumps

Women’s Crinkle Patent Pumps, ON SALE FOR $9.99 (originally $34.50)

This great stainless steel silver color is what makes this shoe, though the stacked heel, faux patent leather, and round toe definitely help πŸ˜‰

Women's Ankle-Strap Boots

Women’s Ankle-Strap Boots, ON SALE FOR $24.99 (originally $39.50)

This is a great stiletto boot, and who isn’t in love with all the gray we’ve been seeing this season?!?

Everyone needs a flat with a great print on it for those days where that 4 inch heel just won’t cut it.
