Comparison: Color Block Heels

It may only be February, but I’m ready for warm weather. Since I have no power over the forecast, I will instead take this time to plan all the pretty things I want to wear once it heats back up.

Nothing says palm trees and Mai Tais quite like these color block sandals from BCBG:

Capture Capture2

Runway Hex Color-Blocked Sandal from BCBG Maxazria

These sandals are bold and have a futuristic edge about them, which I love. Plus, look at that heel! I love a metallic heel and don’t even get me started on that cutout! Sadly, they’re $325, which is just a bit out of my price range.
Okay, it’s a lot out of my price range.

Since when has that stopped me?

Below, I have compiled a few options for us girls on a budget:

Screen Shot 2013-02-13 at 12.18.20 AM

Samaria Ivory Sandals from Jessica Simpson

$88 (was $98)

These are definitely more retro/disco and not so futuristic, but they have the light base color with bright accent colors, which is what you want in a great warm weather shoe. If a metallic heel is not your thing, then this faux-wood heel is a perfect match. Not only that, but it has a T-strap, which I think can be so sexy AND comfortable!

3-Strap Sueded Heel Bootie from Charlotte Russe

$20 (was $38.50)
These are selling fast!

This is a two-tone sueded bootie with a peep toe, side zipper, and a few metallic stud accents. When you want a little more coverage but still want some color in your life, these babies are for you.

V357997

Mary Jane Platform Pump from Victoria’s Secret

$98 (Additional discounts given for online orders)

These sexy Mary Jane’s have a super high heel and beautiful vibrant colors, as well as an ankle strap and peep toe. The price is a bit on the high side, but Victoria’s Secret always has deals on online orders to bring that number down.

V360738

Peep-toe Sling-back Sandal from Victoria’s Secret

$68 (Additional discounts given for online orders)

These sling-backs combine vintage and modern into on great shoe. If the neon yellow scares you a bit, not to worry! They have plenty of other color combinations to choose from.

Screen Shot 2013-02-13 at 12.23.11 AM

Eclectic Company Heel from ModCloth

$67.99

This is definitely a quirky shoe, but I love it all the same. ModCloth has some of the greatest and most unusual shoes that almost always have a vintage flair. This has a great criss-cross strap, and the heel detail is fabulous.

Screen Shot 2013-02-13 at 12.23.22 AM

Aquarium Fantasy Wedge from ModCloth

$47.99

This last pair is my absolute FAVORITE. It’s to die for. First off, they couldn’t have chosen a better name for this beautifully designed wedge. These shoes are living in a dream world, and I’m on the next flight. These would look so great with super skinny jeans or a cute mini skirt. I know I say that I need to buy shoes a lot, but I really REALLY need this pair. It completely steals the show in this line-up.

Comparison: Giuseppe Zanotti vs. My Rent

I stumbled upon this gorgeous, ridiculously sexy Giuseppe Zanotti sandal:

8250882_fpx

It’s so beautiful, I think I might cry.

8250880_fpx

Oh, wait, no. I’m crying because I just saw the price tag.

For those of you who like finding even more reasons to be sad on a Monday afternoon, here’s the damage:

Giuseppe Zanotti Platform Sandals – Alien High Heel

$1,095.00

Yowza.

Ok, well, let’s not freak out. As tempting as it may be to skip rent this month just so you can have your very own pair, don’t do it. Slowly back away from the credit card stash. It’s time to be creative!

I decided to spend my lunch break finding brands who made similar styles, and we are in luck! Check ’em out below:

PHYLICIA_RED_B_SIDE-detailPHYLICIA_BLACK_A_SIDE-hero-detail

Phylicia from Shoe Dazzle

$47.95

Now, that’s a lot more manageable. It has the similar laser cut-outs, and you can even get it in red. The heel on this one is slightly adventurous, but come on, we’re already past that.

VC

Criss-Cross Sandal from Victoria’s Secret

$78

If what you’re really after is a similar heel-height and color, this sandal is perfect. It’s a more simple shape with less cut-outs, but still very sexy. It also comes in a variety of colors.

27_didina_53_6

27_didina_97_6

Didina from Aldo Shoes

$79.98

This sandal brings back the laser cut-outs, slim heel, and bold color. I’m not sure how I feel about the red/fuchsia combo, but it is the most similar to the Giuseppe Zanotti. Plus, you can also get it in black!

CR

Caged Velvet Color Block Sandal from Charlotte Russe

$38.50 (plus an extra 20% off for a limited time)

For a much more affordable option, we’ve got this coral and turquoise combo. Although I have to say, for the same price, you can buy this style which I like a whole lot more:

CR-2

Strappy Color Block Platform Pump from Charlotte Russe

Our last two options are flats. It’s always good to have a flat option for those casual days.

ModCloth

Don’t Mind Atoll Sandal from ModCloth

$39.99

This carries that same cut-out, but as a flat sandal as a more comfortable and casual option.

VC-flat

Laser Cut Flat Sandal, Colin Stuart, from Victoria’s Secret

$58

Another laser-cut flat sandal. Available in pink and sand.

Hopefully you can find a pair that works for you. Be sure to send me llinks to any other similar styles you might find at michele.shoecloset@gmail.com!

New Boots at Charlotte Russe

Browsing through the Charlotte Russe website and found some interesting boots. Some I like, some, I could live without.

Here’s some of the highlights:

The best thing being their deal for all shoes:

Buy One, Get One for $15.50

Sueded Thigh-High Wedge Boot

$45.50

Super cute faux suede wedge thigh-high boots.

Belted Low-Heel Riding Boot

$45.50

Faux Leather, 16″ Tall.

Cuffed Faux-Suede Heel Boot

$40.00

Very cute ruched boot, especially loving the blue!

Tall Topstitch Riding Boot

$42.50

Cute faux-leather riding boot with buckle accents.

Flat Mid-Calf Slouch Boot

$30.00

A great deal on what’s quickly becoming a staple in everyone’s boot collection.

And, last but not least, the monstrosity of the Charlotte Russe boot collection:

Belt-Wrap Sueded Heel Boot

$40.00

I have to be honest, I wouldn’t wear these if someone gave them to me for free. There’s just so many buckles and accents. Too overdone. Sadly, this is on my WORST list. Sorry Charlotte Russe, I guess you can’t win them all…

Payless on the Runway

This is always my favorite part. Shoes on the runway! Time to see the 2011 collections of the designers for Payless…

Starting with Christian Siriano

On to Isabel Toledo…

And finally, Lela Rose

What are your thoughts?

Surprising New Looks at Gap

I’m so surprised by what I’m seeing at Gap’s website. They now have Design Editions for shoes, and these are very different from the simple Gap style. Now, these are still out of my price range, but I think they’re worth seeing. Take a look…

$89.50

Design Editions Peep-toe Wedge Booties

Originally $195, ON SALE FOR $169.99

Design Editions Lace-up Boots

Kind of surprising for Gap, huh?

New Shoes at Victoria’s Secret!

It’s that time again…time to get your feet all pretty so you can wear those cute strappy sandals in the back of your closet. But for those of you who, like me, feel you need new ones (or just really really want them), Victoria’s Secret is definitely ready for spring to get here.

Let me just add that, while I do love all of these styles below, some of them are definitely more than what I would spend. Either way, they are still great styles to see for inspiration. You will definitely be seeing similar styles from less expensive brands.

Keep an eye out for these at Payless

I love how often I am happily surprised now by Payless. These designer collaborations are really bringing their name back, and let’s face it, their new shoes are great. I remember when I was in middle school I had a pair of shoes from Payless, and I was so embarrassed about it that I wouldn’t admit it to anyone. Now I can’t wait to tell people that the stylish shoes I’m rockin’ are from Payless. The looks on their faces are always so great!

I think now more than ever we should all be proud of keeping a budget and choosing to spend less money. It’s responsible, it’s smart, and it’s really a rewarding feeling to know that you were able to put together a super trendy outfit on a super small budget. These notions were the only thing that got me through college, and even my first-job-straight-out-of-college-not-making-nearly-enough-money rough patch.

My theory is, no matter how much or how little money you make, you need to reward yourself. Learning how to do that without going overboard is what makes you a smarter shopper. Sure, you spend a little extra time doing more research and finding those great deals, but you are MUCH less likely to have buyer’s remorse from a $30 pair of shoes as opposed to a $300 pair. And you’ll make all your friends jealous when they find out how LITTLE you spent.

And here’s a few options for your personal reward to yourself…if you so choose 🙂

Do You ShoeDazzle?

So I just found out about ShoeDazzle at work yesterday. Basically, you subscribe through their website and describe your style to them. It costs $40 a month and they send you a pair of shoes each month TO KEEP according to your specifications. If you don’t see any shoes you like, you can skip a month and get two for the following month. I’m just now about to try it out, so I’ll be sure to update when I get my first pair!

Here’s the website:

http://www.shoedazzle.com/

These are some of the shoes you can get. All for $40!

What are your thoughts?

Emma Stone’s Boots in Zombieland

Hi everyone!! It’s been awhile but I just HAD to talk about how amazing Emma Stone’s boots are in Zombieland!! I just saw the movie yesterday and loved it, and all day today all I can think about is how much I WANT THOSE BOOTS!!!

Zombieland-boots

Sooo….here’s the hunt for an afforable pair for myself 🙂

I think I like these the best!!

What do you think? Let me know!!

UPDATE

So I was just informed by a reader that Charlotte Russe has sold out of the Crinkle Flat Boots as of today. Fortunately I ordered my pair last night (my size was the only one left) and I am anxiously waiting their arrival at my doorstep!!! But for those of you who are still looking for that great ‘Wichita’ boot, I’ve got some more additions…

I’ll start off with the more expensive ones and work my way down to a more affordable price range…

pl720869-01vliv01

Unisa Riri Boot

found at Piperlime.com for $99

It’s ok…but I’m not excited.

pl605650-00vliv01

Aerosoles Ride Line
found at Piperlime.com for $89
I must say I’m very impressed with Aerosoles…didn’t think they had it in them to make a boot like this! It definitely has more hardware than Emma Stone’s but they’re still a very close match.
483766_Black
Chaps Caleigh Tall Boots, Kohls
originally $99.99, ON SALE FOR $69.99
Now these are a good match! A litte more expensive than the ones at Charlotte Russe, but I think it’s still a pretty good deal!!
So now I start the hunt for a great jacket….

I think my Halloween costume is covered this year 🙂
